I never really do actual blog posts but I’m trying to avoid finishing a paper so I wanted to say some crap on here instead. Today is Day 5 of a binge drinking marathon. Why, you may ask? On Friday night I saw Wizard Smoke, Sat was Royal Thunder, Sun a friend came over, yesterday was Municipal Waste, and tonight is Horna. Also, last Wednesday I went to Negura Bunget and this coming Wednesday I am going to be hopping between a Ghoul show and Church of Misery. I’m very much enjoying life now.
I have really been enjoying the city lately. A lot of people talk shit about the metal scene in Atlanta, and I just do not get it. Maybe there are only a handful of super dedicated people compared to places like NYC, but stuff is going on here. I know that a lot of the week long stretch of shows just has to do with coincidence, but there are some super awesome local bands here and there is always something to do. A lot of what I like might be coined “hipster metal,” but its usually said by someone that doesn’t have anything to offer but complaints anyway. BTW, I am going to have my Sludge in the South paper posted by sometimes next month so hopefully someone will be interested in reading it.
In speaking of Atlanta having a cool scene, I am going to try to go out to the San Francisco Bay Area in August. I have been looking at all of their venues and am hoping that things look sparse just because August is still kinda far away. What’s going on there as far as local bands go? Any suggestions for cool “metal” places to visit in San Francisco?
